Ioanna Karpouza was born in Lamia in Fthiotida Prefecture. She has been the owner of the Dance School “Les Danseurs” in Larissa since 2019.

She started taking classical ballet classes at Janet De Goed Dance School in Lamia while she continued her dance training at Niki Tiganitaki Dance School in Larissa.

She is a graduate of:

• Royal Academy of Dance – RAD and Associated Board of Dance – FABD in classical ballet
• Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance – ISTD (DDE) in modern and contemporary dance
• Contemporary Dance Association– FCDA in contemporary dance
• Royal Ballet School – Professional Development Programme for Ballet Teachers
• Zena Rommett Floor-Barre Foundation
• Centre of Continuous Education and Lifelong Training of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens – Special Education

She received training in the application of the theory of Veronica Sherborne to preschool and school-age children as well as to children with special needs. Her training continued with the successful completion of MK Pilates Barre Programme in Athens.

From 2003 until 2019, she worked as a classical ballet, modern and contemporary dance teacher at Niki Tiganitaki Dance School. Her professional career includes the teaching of all ages and levels of men, women and children.

She has participated in charity dance galas and events as a member of many dance groups while she has been responsible for the kinesiology of children’s dance performances and theatre shows from 2002 until today. She has attended seminars in Greece concerning Creative Dance and Movement, First Aid, Physical Condition, Health Education and Nutrition for Dancers. She has received an official certification from the National Red Cross to provide first aid to babies and children.

She has regularly attended contemporary and classical ballet seminars in England, given by the following speakers:

She is an active member of the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) of London, the Associated Board of Dance (ABD), the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance (ISTD), the Contemporary Dance Association (CDA) and the International Dance Council CID – UNESCO as well as she is a professional member of the National Dance Education Organisation (NDEO) – Excellence in Learning and Teaching the Art of Dance
